Yoga and Wellness for Breast Cancer

My own personal experience of stage 3 breast cancer, 10 years ago, led me to my first yoga class where I witnessed its many benefits in helping me rehabilitate.  Having 10 years of yoga experience, in 2023 I made a decision to leave the boardroom and corporate life behind to concentrate on being a full-time Yoga teacher. As part of my yoga teaching, I am now offering yoga classes specifically for anyone with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

How Yoga can help

Research indicates that there are real benefits to regularly practising yoga after a breast cancer diagnosis, particularly for emotional wellbeing, cancer-related fatigue and pain.

As I’ve personally experienced, being diagnosed with breast cancer and having treatment can cause anxiety and leave you feeling imbalanced both physically and mentally. It’s really important to look after your emotional wellbeing, relaxation, and yoga is a great way to take some time to relax and focus on yourself. The yoga poses and breathing techniques practised during yoga can soothe and calm the body from the inside out.

Yoga may help you to:

  • Improve emotional wellbeing
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Reduce the stress of pain
  • Build your bone strength
  • Improve circulation
  • Improve movement
  • Lower stress and relax
  • Improve sleep
  • Have your own one to one support when life feels lonely and dark

No previous experience of yoga is necessary, but you must have the consent of your consultant or doctor, prebooking class.

Also, available on zoom, but to gain the maximum benefit my advice is a one to one in person session.

Allow me to guide you through an hour of breathing, relaxation, and wellbeing asanas to help simulate your mind body and soul.
